SAFTU calls for maximum solidarity with FAWU members at Heineken Beverages SA [SOUND]

# The South African Federation of Trade Unions says it fully supports the Food and Allied Workers’ Union’s protected strike action at Heineken Beverages South Africa’s headquarters in Gauteng today. This follows a deadlock in wage negotiations. The workers, amongst other things, are demanding seven-percent across-the-board wage increase, an increase in the meal allowance from 74-rand to 80-rand, and a monthly housing allowance of 500-rand. Saftu’s Asive Dyani says this strike is a legitimate exercise of workers’ constitutional and labour rights:
