Riversdale Solar Plant marks step towards greater energy resilience [SOUND]

# The Riversdale Solar Plant has been officially inaugurated in the Western Cape, adding renewable energy and battery storage to the local electricity system. The plant has ten megawatts of solar capacity, generates up to 15-million kilowatt-hours a year and includes a ten-megawatt-hour battery storage system. The DA’s Thomas Walters says the project is expected to reduce reliance on Eskom, help manage electricity costs and support more reliable municipal services:
