# President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Southern African Development Community has stood as a beacon of solidarity and a community founded on the values of unity, peace, equality and mutual benefit. Ramaphosa was addressing the extraordinary SADC Summit virtually last night. The president says as these very values are being tested by a convergence of challenges, the SADC is called upon to act with both urgency and foresight to stabilise the present while safeguarding the future:
