# President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid tribute to the former leader of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as a visionary leader. The 74-year-old, who is credited with transforming Qatar’s economy into the wealthy global powerhouse it is today, passed away on Sunday. He ruled the Gulf state from 1995 until he resigned in 2013.
