# The Public Servants Association says the recent reports highlighting the misuse of National Student Financial Aid Scheme funds by students for online betting are alarming. According to the National Gambling Board’s report for the 2023/2024 financial year, 1.1-trillion-rand was wagered in the South African gambling industry in 2024, 40.2-percent more than the previous financial year.
