PRASA raise Metrorail fares for first time in a decade from August

# The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa will implement fare hikes across the Metrorail network starting 1 August, the first increase since 2015. Single tickets will rise by two-rand-50-cent, while return tickets will increase by up to six-rand depending on travel distance. The hike follows 2023 stakeholder consultations and aims to support energy, maintenance, and safety needs. PRASA CEO Nwabisa Gqamane-Ntiyane says fares remain the most affordable, with discounts on off-peak travel, new weekly and monthly ticket options.
