# The Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa and other civil society organisations have called for the extension of today’s deadline for public comment on the Whistleblower Bill. The organisation’s Roshnee Narrandes criticised the drafted bill, warning it still fails to adequately protect whistleblowers from victimisation. Narrandes says disciplinary action is often used as retaliation against employees exposing corruption. The platform identified eight major gaps, including weak reporting systems and limited compensation. Narrandes also warned that employers could revoke protections, creating direct conflict of interest.
