# The Parliament Portfolio Committee on Social Development has condemned the reported intimidation of South African Social Security Agency’s Eastern Cape Regional Manager, Bandile Maqethuka, in kuGompo. Maqethuka says the intimidation is linked to SASSA’s anti-fraud operations to recover more than 10-million-rand allegedly stolen from the agency’s system. Committee chairperson Bridget Masango says threats of this nature must be treated with the urgency they deserve, particularly amid rising gun violence in the country:
