# Paralympics: The paralympic medalist and convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius made his sporting return at the Ironman 70.3 in Durban on Sunday. Pistorius has been out on parole since last year and was granted permission to travel to KwaZulu-Natal. He competed in the first of two South African events in the world’s premier half-distance triathlon series and finished third in the disability category. Pistorius was convicted of the murder of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, in 2013. It was his first competitive appearance in about 13 years, following his gold medal win at the Paralympic Games in London.
