Organisation calls for strengthening cross-border coordination to contain the Ebola outbreak

# The International Organisation for Migration is warning that reactive border closures in response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda may push people towards less monitored informal crossing points. Over 600 suspected Ebola cases and more than 300 deaths were reported. The IOM says reactive border closures can reduce visibility of population movements, undermining health screening, surveillance, contact tracing, and early detection efforts. It adds the most effective response is coordinated action that keeps mobility visible, safe and monitored.
