# We begin with rugby: The All Blacks’ 144-Test cap veteran Beauden Barrett headlines the match-day 23 that will face the Stormers in Cape Town tomorrow. He is backed up by 90-cap outside centre Anton Lienert-Brown, 88-cap left wing Rieko Ioane and 57-cap lock Patrick Tuipulotu, who will also captain the side. Winger Rieko Ioane earns his first start since returning from a sabbatical at Leinster. Prop Siale Lauaki and utility back Josh Jacomb will both make their debuts for New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the Springboks’ jerseys for Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry against the All Blacks feature the lyrics of South Africa’s national anthem in the shape of the country’s flag. The words in isiXhosa, isiZulu, seSotho, Afrikaans and English will be displayed on the players’ chests. SA Rugby’s CEO, Rian Oberholzer, explained this represents the convergence of South Africa’s diverse voices, histories and communities. The two countries will meet at Ellis Park, the Cape Town Stadium, the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, and Baltimore in the US.

# Cricket: Another big name has committed to next year’s fifth edition of the SA20. The captain of Australia’s T20 team, Mitchell Marsh, will participate in the competition for the first time after having signed for triple champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape. He is expected to form an opening partnership with South Africa’s Quinton de Kock. Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals have both locked in their 19-man squads, while Sunrisers, Joburg Super Kings, M-I Cape Town and Pretoria Capitals will add spots during the players’ auction on 7 October.

# Golf: LIV Golf has reached an agreement with a new unnamed investor following months of deliberations. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced in April it was ending funding to the breakaway league at the end of this year. The new deal is expected to be completed next month. LIV Golf’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, says as part of the arrangement, players will also own a majority equity stake in the league:

# And soccer: FIFA says Gianni Infantino will remain president, with the management board reaffirming its support for his leadership. The world governing body’s leaders held a crisis meeting in Rabat, Morocco, following mounting criticism of Infantino’s now-aborted proposal. He wanted to sell off stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors. Infantino and secretary general Mattias Grafstrom have apologised for their errors. FIFA says with the proposal now withdrawn, it will no longer tolerate any attacks on its integrity, good governance and due process.
