In this special election bulletin:
# The MK Party moves into third place nationally as the counting of votes continues
# The government thanks all South Africans who voted
# And the EFF is not concerned as it faces a stiff challenge from the MK Party
# Preliminary results from the Electoral Commission a short while ago showed the ANC was leading with 42.27-percent. The DA followed with 24.47-percent while the MK Party moved into third place with 9.57-percent. The EFF is now fourth at 9.15-percent and the Patriotic Alliance at 3.37-percent nationally.
# Government has thanked the millions of South Africans who successfully went out in their numbers to make their voices heard in the seventh democratic elections by casting their votes. These elections coincide with the country’s celebration of 30 years of freedom and democracy. Government’s spokesperson, Nomonde Mnukwa, says the youth have confirmed their commitment to shaping the nation’s future in this election, and their engagement in the electoral process is a testament to their adherence to constitutional values:
# The EFF says it is still early to be concerned about the results with key metropolitan results still not in yet. The party is currently fourth nationally and fifth in the hotly contested KwaZulu-Natal which the MK Party is leading. The EFF garnered the third most votes during the general elections in 2019.
