# The DA’s federal council has unanimously endorsed a resolution supporting its leader, John Steenhuisen, and the party’s negotiating team in their efforts to form governments at national and provincial levels. According to News24, the resolution aims to uphold the Constitution, ensure stability, and promote economic growth. The party’s federal executive will make the final decisions regarding coalitions and government formations. DA spokesperson Solly Malatsi says the party is committed to engaging with other parties to establish stable governments for the benefit of all citizens.
Meanwhile, the City of Ekurhuleni’s Department of Communications and Brand Management has reminded political parties to remove their election posters by the end of business tomorrow or face fines. Spokesperson Zweli Dlamini says according to the by-laws, posters must be removed within 14-days after the election. He emphasises any remaining materials will be removed by the city at a fee. He says the city will not be liable for any claims regarding removed election materials:
# Justice and Correctional Services minister Ronald Lamola believes a ceasefire is the only solution to enable the movement of aid in Gaza. Leading the South African delegation to an emergency international conference in Jordan, Lamola emphasised the need for sustained aid delivery and protection for civilians and aid workers. He welcomes efforts by the US and the International Court of Justice’s ruling, stressing the importance of continuous, unhindered humanitarian aid. The conference aims to address Gaza’s dire humanitarian situation and find pathways to peace.
# Malawi is in mourning as vice-president Saulos Chilima and nine others have died in a military aircraft crash. President Lazarus Chakwera confirmed the news during a media briefing after the wreckage of the plane was discovered in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba. Chilima and the others were en route to represent the government at the burial of former cabinet minister Ralph Kasambara. Chakwera extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims:
# Olympics: The race is on to transform the Roland Garros tennis complex into an Olympic venue for the Paris Games. The organisers have to comply with the International Olympic Committee’s meticulous standards, with just six weeks between the end of the French Open and the start of the Games’ tennis competition. The measures include the hiding of the complex’s distinctive marks, and the attaching of the Olympic rings and the host city’s logo. The tennis competition starts on the 27th of next month.
