# The commissioner of the Border Management Authority, Michael Masiapato, confirms the successful repatriation of 663 Ghanaian nationals via OR Tambo International Airport over the weekend. Spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says the process, coordinated with the Port Management Committee and the Ghanaian high commission, involved verification, clearance, and chartered flights. She says many travellers were found to have overstayed their visas and were declared undesirable under the Immigration Act:
# Government has expressed concern at the recent remarks by analyst Charles Sinkala. During an interview on SABC, Sinkala suggested Section 89 of the Constitution had contributed to the deterioration of state-owned enterprises. Spokesperson William Baloyi says the section specifically provides for the removal of the president by the National Assembly under defined circumstances, and does not relate to the governance, administration, or operational management of SOEs:
# Police are calling on communities to confront the silence surrounding statutory rape and child abuse. Spokesperson Amanda van Wyk highlights the need for open discussions, early reporting, and community involvement in protecting children. She warns many cases remain unreported due to cultural beliefs and fear. Van Wyk encourages children to speak out and seek help, while urging communities to support victims and pursue justice for offender.
Moving abroad:
# Iran’s Foreign Ministry says the US holds direct responsibility for the current ceasefire breaches, as Israel’s actions cannot be separated from American policies. Israel and Iran have traded strikes since the weekend, marking the first attacks on each other’s territory since the ceasefire came into force two months ago. Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei says incidents that have occurred in the past 24-hours will only fuel the chaotic situation in the diplomatic process with the US to reach a peace agreement.
# Rugby: Springbok Sevens coach Philip Snyman says he is extremely proud of his team and how they performed throughout the season. The Blitzboks followed up their World Sevens Series triumph by successfully defending their World Championship title. Tristan Leyds won the Men’s Sevens Player of the Year award, while he and teammate Shilton van Wyk also made the season’s Dream Team. Snyman says the team is moving in the right direction:
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-54-cents and the euro at 19-rand-5-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-5-cents and Bitcoin trades at 63-thousand-82-dollars.
