# The Legal Practice Council says a warrant of arrest has been issued for disbarred advocate Malesela Teffo. This follows his surprise appearance at the High Court in Johannesburg during the attempted murder trial of alleged kingpin Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and four others. The council says Teffo remains struck off the roll and cannot practise law in South Africa as he has not applied for readmission. Gauteng director Ignatius Briel says they are working with police to execute the warrant.

# Energy regulator NERSA has approved Sasol Gas’ application for maximum gas prices covering the next two financial years. The approved maximum gas price for end-user customers is 97-rand-31-cents per gigajoule for the first quarter of 2026/27, while traders and resellers will pay a maximum of 92-rand-44-cents. Spokesperson Charles Hlebela says a quarterly price adjustment mechanism will remain in place until March 2028, with an increase above ten-percent requiring written approval:

# Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian says his country will immediately reciprocate if the United ​States returns to its commitments under an interim deal ‌signed in June. He made his comments at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek after the first ​exchange of direct attacks in the US-Iranian conflict since late ​July. The US struck Larak Island and Iran ⁠then launched attacks on two US air bases in ​Jordan. Pezeshkian said earlier Tehran ​was ⁠still open to a negotiated solution in its conflict with Washington.

# Rugby: Wallabies coach Les Kiss says his charges are learning to hold their nerve when the pressure mounts. Australia held on to beat a relentless Argentina this weekend, handing Kiss his third successive victory since taking over. This was the Wallabies’ first four-match winning streak since 2021 after beating Italy in Joe Schmidt’s last match as coach. Kiss says the team stayed calm and didn’t let the pressure get the better of them. Australia and Argentina again face off in Mendoza this coming Saturday.

# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-14-cents and the euro at 18-rand-71-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-86-cents and Bitcoin trades at 77-thousand-859-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-381-dollars-22-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 94-dollars-38-cents a barrel.

# And finally: The Road Traffic Management Corporation says spring in South Africa is more than a transition from winter to warmer weather. Spokesperson Simon Zwane is urging motorists, pedestrians and transport operators to prepare for a season that can bring rapidly changing weather, reduced visibility and challenging driving conditions:
