# The South African Zionist Federation says it condemns South Africa’s increasingly antagonistic and discriminatory position against Israel. This comes after Israel’s decision to recall its ambassador to South Africa Eliav Belotserkovsky, as Parliament is expected to vote on whether to close the Israeli embassy. The federation’s chairperson, Rowan Polovin, says the government’s one-sided and irresponsible rhetoric, and refusal to engage in dialogue with Israel, has prevented South Africa from playing any meaningful role in ending the current war or in any future peace efforts:

# Environmental organisation WaterCAN says it is concerning that the criminal case against fuel giant Sasol continues to drag on following another postponement. Sasol is accused of allegedly discharging water contaminated with chemicals including vanadium into a tributary of the Vaal River. WaterCAN’s Ferrial Adam, says while the court case is underway, apportioning responsibility for stopping the pollution and ensuring the clean-up seems to be on hold:

# North West Police are currently investigating the deaths of two children who reportedly died after consuming suspected poisoned food in Regorogile, outside Brits. According to police spokesperson Sabatha Mokgwabone, a 32-year-old woman prepared a meal for her family and three of her neighbours’ children. The children became sick and two of them died. Mokgwabone says the collection and testing of food samples are currently underway as authorities work to determine the cause of death.
# Soccer: Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has filed a multi-million-rand claim with the Employment Tribunal over unauthorised wage deductions. He was charged with rape and sexual assault in 2021, but in July this year, the 29-year-old was found not guilty by a jury in a retrial at Chester Crown Court in England. It is alleged that Manchester City stopped paying Mendy in September 2021, after he was initially charged. The defender is seeking the return of pay he is owed up until the end of his contract, which ended in June.

Gold sells at one-thousand-933-dollars-28-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 81-dollars-84-cents a barrel.

It won the Ministerial Award as an Innovative Solution for Small Businesses. The centre has empowered more than 750 small and medium-sized enterprises. The university’s Patrick Ebewo says the centre promotes the economic participation and inclusion of women, youth and people with disabilities, through access to entrepreneurial education, business development and support.
