# Four suspects will appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court tomorrow after their arrest on suspicion of contravening the Regulation of Foreign Military Assistance Act. They were intercepted at OR Tambo International Airport while en route to Russia. Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale says a South African woman allegedly facilitated their recruitment into the Russian military. She told SABC News that electronic devices were confiscated as authorities probe possible wider security threats:
# Rise Mzansi leader Songezo Zibi says the Unite for Change alliance, made up of his party, Build One South Africa and the GOOD Party, aims to restore basic human dignity for all South Africans. Speaking in Soweto, Zibi said dignity cannot exist without essentials like sanitation and jobs. He stressed that South Africa must unite behind ethical leadership and good governance to ensure a fair, dignified future for all:
# Human Settlements minister, Thembi Simelane, has commended MECs for improving housing delivery and speeding up the use of 2025/2026 funds. Addressing the final Minister-MEC meeting of the year, she noted that provinces spent over 52-percent of the Human Settlements Development Grant and nearly 60-percent of the Informal Settlements Upgrading Grant by September. She highlighted strong performers like the Free State and urged metros to fully utilise their allocations to restore dignity and expand permanent housing solutions.
# The Johannesburg Metro Police arrested a 39-year-old taxi driver accused of hitting a female runner during the Soweto Marathon near Soweto Highway and Main Road yesterday. Officers say he attempted to flee but was immediately stopped. A breathalyser test confirmed he was over the legal alcohol limit. JMPD’s Xolani Fihla says the 37-year-old runner suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital:
# Rugby: Springbok captain Siya Kolisi says Wales must face the best after South Africa’s 73-0 rout in Cardiff. The Springboks scored a total of 11 tries by Gerhard Steenekamp, Ethan Hooker, Jasper Wiese, Morne van den Berg, Wilco Louw, Canan Moodie, Andre Esterhuizen, Ruan Nortje and Eben Etzebeth, with two by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu who converted nine. Andre Esterhuizen was named Player of the Match. Kolisi called the victory a strong cap to the 2025 season:
South African teams had mixed results in this weekend’s United Rugby Championship games. An amazing second-half comeback from the Stormers earned the Cape side a richly deserved 27-21 win over arch-rivals Munster in their clash on Saturday night. The win places them three points clear at the top of the log, as they continue their impressive momentum.
Also on Saturday the Sharks had another bad night when they were outplayed 44-17 by Connacht in their crunch sixth round match in Galway. Other weekend results saw the Sharks drop a place to 14th on the log, where they will stay until they return to URC action with a crucial home derby against the Bulls just before Christmas.
And at Loftus the Lions produced probably their best performance of the season to shock the Bulls and win their URC derby 43-33. The victory has taken the Lions to seventh on the log, after they leapfrogged the Bulls.
