# The MK Party says after legal advice it has decided to take its 58 seats in the 400-seat National Assembly, while fighting the issue of the alleged rigging of the elections in other forums. This was announced during a media briefing yesterday in Johannesburg. The MK Party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela says the party will join the alliance called the Progressive Caucus:
Meanwhile, the MK Party leader and former president Jacob Zuma says the party needs to educate people that there’s no government of national unity in the country but an unholy marriage between DA and ANC. Zuma was speaking during the media conference in Johannesburg regarding the current political situation and ongoing developments in South Africa. He says the government of national unity is madness:
# Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza says as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve its financial position, a revenue enhancement plan has been introduced. It focuses on identifying revenue leakages, exploring new revenue opportunities and implementing strategies to optimise revenue collection. Xhakaza says the successful execution of the plan is expected to significantly bolster the city’s liquidity status and ensure the continued delivery of quality services to the residents of Ekurhuleni.
# A Ukraine summit for peace in Switzerland has concluded with dozens of countries committing to its territorial integrity. They have adopted a final document which blames the war’s widespread suffering and destruction firmly on Russia. It calls for Ukrainian control to be restored over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the country’s ports on the Azov Sea, all currently occupied by Russia. Humanitarian issues, such as the return of prisoners and abducted children, were also discussed. More than 90 countries and international organisations attended the summit, excluding Russia and China.
# And tennis, Andy Murray has been named as one of the four British singles players for the Paris Olympics, which will be his fifth Summer Games. Despite his lowly singles ranking of 97, Murray was granted an ITF place to compete at the French Open at Roland Garros, due to being a former Grand Slam winner and Olympic gold medallist at London 2012 and Rio in 2016. He is one of four male singles players selected, alongside Jack Draper, Cameron Norrie and Dan Evans, with Katie Boulter the sole female participant for Britain.
