# DA leader John Steenhuisen says the party is looking forward to working with president Cyril Ramaphosa and the rest of the team that will form part of the government of national unity. Steenhuisen calls on political parties to put the country first, and to work collectively in the interest of the people they serve and the country they love:
Another leader, the Patriotic Alliance’s Gayton McKenzie, also congratulated Ramaphosa on his re-election as president of South Africa. McKenzie confirms the PA has agreed to a deal with the ANC, IFP and the DA to form the government of national unity. He says voters have given all political parties a second chance to serve them:
Meanwhile, MK Party president Jacob Zuma is set to address the nation at a pivotal media conference in Johannesburg tomorrow. He will discuss the current political landscape and unfolding formations of the government of national unity, addressing various topics, and outlining the nation’s future trajectory. The party snubbed the first sitting of the seventh Parliament due to legal challenges against the Electoral Commission.
# Numsa has registered a dispute with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration against the Bombela Operating Company, which operates the Gautrain. Numsa’s spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says the union deadlocked with the Gautrain bosses over wage demands. They want a 13-percent increase across the board, as well as a 60-percent contribution to medical aid:
# And, cricket: South Africa defeated Nepal by a single run after a final-ball run out in a T20 World Cup Group D thriller in Kingstown, St Vincent, this morning. Needing eight runs off the final over in pursuit of a modest target of 116 for a stunning upset win, the Nepalese fell agonisingly short at 114 for seven, with Gulshan Jha run out off the final ball. Proteas captain Aiden Markram expressed their relief and says they will learn from the experience.
