# Panyaza Lesufi says Gauteng voters have sent a clear message
# And soccer: Real Madrid wins the Champions League for the 15th time
# The DA says ending the ANC’s national majority and electoral dominance, voters have sent a clear message, that political parties exist to govern and govern well, not dominate society and achieve hegemony. The ANC won 40.20-percent of the national votes, a catastrophic slump from the 57.5-percent it won in 2019. The DA says the Constitution defines South Africa as a multiparty democracy, and the country can now begin the transition into fulfilling this mission and away from a one-party state.
Meanwhile, the DA in the Western Cape says it is pleased that it has maintained its majority in the province following a hotly contested general election. The party secured 55.29-percent of the votes in the province followed by the ANC at 19.55-percent and the Patriotic Alliance 7.08-percent. Analysts warn that exit polls have often been wrong in the past and are not impartial.
# And soccer: Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund two-nil to secure their 15th Champions League title at Wembley in London. Toni Kroos, playing in his final game for the club, set up the opener with a corner for Dani Carvajal to head home with 16 minutes to play before England’s Jude Bellingham rolled in Vinicius Junior to punish a stretched Dortmund side soon after. Carlo Ancelotti, who has now become the first manager to win the Champions League five times, says this is special:
