Good morning. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# The Electoral Court will hear the MK founder Jabulani Khumalo’s application next week
# Ace Magashule claims the Election Commission has rigged the elections
# And in rugby: The Bulls name an unchanged match-day 23 to face the Sharks
# The Electoral Court will on Monday hear the application by Jabulani Khumalo against the Electoral Commission’s decision to remove him, and record former president Jacob Zuma as president of the MK Party. After 96-percent of the voting districts were completed, the MK Party is currently the third largest party nationally. Khumalo wants the court to declare the commission’s decision invalid and unlawful. He says Zuma, who was only the face of the MK election campaign and held no official position in the party, took a unilateral decision to expel him.
Meanwhile, the African Congress for Transformation leader Ace Magashule claims the Electoral Commission has rigged the elections. His newly registered party made regional and provincial ballots, but failed to meet the requirements to run for the National Assembly. With nearly 99-percent of voting districts counted in the Free State, the ACT currently has over 15-thousand votes. Magashule says there are a lot of irregularities which they can prove:
And the ANC remains in the lead nationally as the Electoral Commission is nearly complete with processing the voting district results. Preliminary results show the ANC at 40.14-percent followed by the DA at 21.72-percent and the MK Party at 14.82-percent. In the hotly contested KwaZulu-Natal, MK is leading with 45.34-percent followed by the IFP at 18.02-percent and the ANC third with 16.98-percent. In Gauteng, the ANC leads with 34.32-percent followed by the DA and the EFF. In the Western Cape, the DA is maintaining its majority with 55.33-percent followed by the ANC at 19.45-percent.
# Rugby: The Bulls kept to the same match-day 23 that dispatched both the Ospreys and Benetton by a big margin, for their United Rugby Championship showdown against the Sharks in Durban today. There is a rotation within the squad as Johan Grobbelaar takes over as starting hooker from Akker van der Merwe. Utility back Sebastian de Klerk will start on the bench and says they want to keep playing an attacking game:
# And finally on a sad note, the mother of former first lady Michelle Obama has died at the age of 86. Marian Robinson lived at the White House during the eight years of former president Barack Obama’s administration between 2009 and 2017. In a statement, Michelle Obama says her mom was her rock, always there for whatever she needed. She adds that she was the same steady backstop for the entire family, and they are heartbroken.
