# Load-shedding remains suspended for the 65th day
# And Donald Trump can still return to the White House despite his conviction
# Preliminary results after 95-percent of voting districts have been processed a short while ago show the ANC has 40.64-percent of national votes. The DA followed with 22.51-percent while the MK Party was on 14.39-percent. The MK Party is leading in KwaZulu-Natal with 45.03-percent followed by the IFP at 19.08-percent with the ANC third with 17.43-percent. In Gauteng, the ANC is still in the lead with 34.38-percent and the DA at 27.69-percent. In the Western Cape, the DA is maintaining its majority with 55.11-percent followed by the ANC at 19.47-percent.
Meanwhile, EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu credits the MK party for diminishing the ANC’s dominance. This comes as the MK party takes the third position nationally in the elections. Speaking at the Result Operation Centre in Midrand, Shivambu noted MK’s surpassing of the EFF, and applauded the support from over one-million backers. He affirmed the EFF’s central role in coalition talks, aiming to form a government within 14 days:
And still on the election front: The DA has raised concerns about discrepancies at three voting stations in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in the Eastern Cape. News24 reports, the Electoral Commission in the province confirmed the DA has lodged a complaint requesting an investigation into these discrepancies. Electoral officer Kayakazi Magudumana says the IEC will await a decision from the national office regarding the objection. Magudumana adds the declaration of the results, at a national level, will be done tomorrow evening.

Legal expert Elizabeth Wydra points out that nothing prevents Trump from being elected, even if he is in jail during the election. She says the US Constitution only sets out three main requirements for the presidency, and being a convicted criminal isn’t a disqualification.
# And finally cricket: South Africa has never before reached a World Cup final. The Proteas will try to secure the nation’s first, major global senior cricket title at the T20 World Cup, starting in the West Indies and the United States this weekend. South Africa will start their campaign against Sri Lanka in New York on Monday. Proteas captain Aiden Markram says the core group of players in the current national squad can go on to win the World Cup:
