NEASA says COSATU protest futile amid economic crisis

# COSATU has announced a nationwide protest for tomorrow (7 October), citing ongoing economic challenges and calling for restrictions on retrenchments and job protections. The National Employers’ Association of South Africa argues the strike is outdated and ineffective, highlighting last year’s 93-percent non-participation among employees. NEASA says COSATU’s action reflects diminished influence, urging the union to focus on addressing systemic issues like corruption, crumbling infrastructure, and economically hostile policies rather than symbolic strikes that fail to impact the economy.
