# The National Consumer Commission has announced a safety recall for certain 2017 to 2020 Ford Ranger and Ford Everest vehicles fitted with the Ten-R-80 transmission. The recall follows concerns that a transmission fluid pump gear could fail, causing the vehicle to lose power while driving and increasing the risk of an accident. The commission’s Phetho Ntaba urged owners of affected vehicles to visit their nearest authorised Ford dealership for free software updates:
