# The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the scene of the fatal accident on the N1 North freeway, between the Buccleuch Interchange and Allandale Road, has now been cleared. All lanes of the freeway have been reopened. Motorists should still expect traffic delays as the severe backlog from the earlier disruption begins to ease. The JMPD earlier confirmed the loss of five lives in the single-vehicle accident involving an overturned minibus taxi. A case of culpable homicide will be opened for further investigation into the cause of the accident.
