NATIONAL:

Reports president Cyril Ramaphosa and president Donald Trump’s diplomatic meeting next week is expected to pave the way for a series of bilateral trade agreements in various sectors by a three-member ministerial team. The minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Parks Tau, the minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, and the minister of Agriculture, John Steenhuisen, will draft the trade package agreement aimed at repairing relations.

Reports the Episcopal Church in the USA refuses to help resettle the Afrikaner refugees in the country. The church claims they have close ties with the Anglican Church in South Africa and have an unwavering commitment to racial justice.

Then the website spoke to one of the refugees, Thea van Straaten of Van Reenen. She says they have already survived four farm attacks and that is the reason why she left the country.

And finally, the ANC is reported to say that the 49 Afrikaners who left the country are abusing refugee status and their sole purpose is to undermine democracy.

Reports government sources indicate that an additional 300 Afrikaners will emigrate to the United States. The CEO of AfriForum, Kallie Kriel, who still maintains that the Afrikaners who have already left have good reasons, says he has no intention of leaving South Africa.

# Sowetan:

Reports the police are busy identifying the body of a transit robber who blew himself up during a robbery. According to the paper, there has been a decline in transit robberies, but there have already been 76 this year.

# And The Citizen:

Writes the government has already paid out 217-million-rand for the expropriation of land since the beginning of the financial year. The bulk of it to black landowners.

WESTERN CAPE:

# Die Burger:

Reports president Ramaphosa said during a visit to Nampo Harvest Day in Bothaville that the Afrikaners who fled to America were cowards. He says South Africans are standing firm and solving their own problems.

Then the paper writes that almost 1.4-million people responded to FlySafair’s eleven-rand flight offer.

And finally, there is news about a foreigner who was arrested after one-million-rand in cash and several bank cards were found in his possession.

EASTERN CAPE:

# The Herald in Gqeberha:

Reports more than 80-thousand workers in the Eastern Cape lost their jobs in the first three months of 2025. The unemployment rate in the province now stands at 39.3-percent, an increase of 2.7-percentage points.

And secondly, the paper writes that an acting judge from Gqeberha and prominent lawyer, Siphokazi Cubungu, has appeared in court for fraud. He is alleged to have forged signatures, submitted false invoices, and received payments for work that was never done.

KWAZULU-NATAL:

Firstly writes, South Africa lost 300-thousand jobs in the first three months of 2025.

And reports that no changes have been made to the KwaZulu-Natal budget.

Reports the minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi, says her ministry has introduced a scorecard system to measure the performance of the fishing industry.

Secondly, the paper writes the Namibian police recorded four-thousand-455 incidents of gender-based violence between April 2024 and February 2025.
