# Johannesburg mayor Dada Morero has handed over the first phase of the Lilian Ngoyi Street rebuilding project, following a July 2023 deadly gas explosion. Morero says the 192-million-rand project remains within budget, with 82-million-rand spent on the first phase. The mayor says 110-million-rand was secured for the second phase, set for completion by August 2026. He said that the road will have full access from 12 September benefitting businesses and workers:
