Minister George upholds Eskom’s Duynefontein Nuclear Power Station approval

# The minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries Dion George has upheld the 2017 decision granting Eskom environmental authorisation to build a new nuclear power station in Duynefontein, Western Cape. The Minister reviewed the Environmental Impact Assessment and an independent peer review before dismissing the appeals. Despite this decision, Eskom must still obtain further permits, including from the National Energy Regulator of South Africa and the National Nuclear Regulator.
