Medical association warns of waterborne disease risk after Eastern Cape floods [SOUND]

# South African Medical Association chairperson Mvuyisi Mzukwa has warned of potential outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as cholera and gastrointestinal cases following floods in the Eastern Cape. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Mzukwa cited damaged water and sanitation infrastructure and overwhelmed healthcare facilities as major concerns. He said healthcare workers are under immense pressure, with limited resources and disrupted services, further worsening pre-existing challenges in the province’s health system:
