# Deputy president Paul Mashatile has called on young South Africans to participate actively in the upcoming local government elections. In his keynote address at the traditional and Khoi-San leaders’ engagement in Limpopo, Mashatile said the elections provide an important opportunity for citizens to influence service delivery, accountability and development in their communities. He urged traditional leaders to encourage young people to register and vote:
