# EFF leader Julius Malema criticised the cost and purpose of the national convention that kicked off the national dialogue. Speaking in Seshego, Limpopo, at a rally celebrating the party’s ward 13 by-election victory, Malema argued the talks were disorganised and served only the egos of certain people, rather than addressing South Africa’s challenges. Malema pointed to the withdrawal of legacy foundations and warnings from NGOs about the lack of preparedness as signs the convention should not have proceeded:
