# The Johannesburg Development Agency, in partnership with the City of Johannesburg’s Development Planning Department, has launched the Urban Agriculture Food Resilience Infrastructure Project. This initiative aims to fight food insecurity, empower new farmers, and expand sustainable urban farming across the metro. The metro’s spokesperson, Virgil James, says the department has created a food resilience unit to tackle poverty and restore dignity in communities most affected by hunger:
