Jacob reveals lab backlog delayed Port Shepstone cocaine investigations [SOUND]

# KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Unit Commander Gavin Jacob has told the Madlanga Commission that a laboratory backlog delayed the investigation into the 541-kilogram cocaine seizure in Port Shepstone. Jacob said he made several attempts to expedite forensic analysis of the drugs after concerns were raised about security at the storage facility. He testified that delays in obtaining both qualitative and quantitative analysis reports prevented the destruction of exhibits:
