# The Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case against four SAPS officials from the National Intervention Unit to 29 May 2025 for further investigations. Officers Jack Motlhabya, Menzi Shabalala, Ntuthuko Dladla, and Samkelo Mbotho face charges of allegedly aiding a detainee’s escape. The case stems from the 15 January rescue of illegal miners from a Stilfontein mine shaft, where a suspect known as Tiger escaped. An Anti-Corruption Unit probe led to the officers’ arrest. They remain out on one-thousand-rand bail each, until their next court appearance.
