Infrastructure SA warns tender cancellations are hurting infrastructure growth

# Government’s administrative agency responsible for planning, managing, and accelerating infrastructure investments, Infrastructure South Africa, has raised concern over the high number of cancelled and stalled tenders. Acting head Simphiwe Ndlovu told Parliament more than 70-percent of advertised construction-related tenders were either cancelled or closed without awards. Only 29.9-percent of 12-thousand-622 assessed tenders were awarded. ISA says cancellations weaken investor confidence, hurt small businesses, delay service delivery and threaten South Africa’s goal of raising fixed investment to 30-percent of gross domestic product.
