IMF warns AI could put young people’s jobs at risk

# International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva has warned that artificial intelligence could threaten jobs, especially for young people entering the workforce. She described AI as a “slow-moving tsunami”, saying companies are increasingly using the technology to take over routine tasks. Georgieva said young people looking for their first jobs were among those most at risk. Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam has called on governments to make emergency job-support measures permanent. These were introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic and, in some cases, the global financial crisis.
