# Two prominent Hong Kong democracy activists have been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for subversion under the territory’s national security law. Lee Cheuk-yan was jailed for seven years, while human rights lawyer Chow Hang-tung received seven years and three months. Both were leaders of the now-disbanded Hong Kong Alliance, which organised annual vigils marking the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. A third leader, Albert Ho, was previously sentenced to five years after pleading guilty. The sentences come amid a wider crackdown on political dissent in Hong Kong.
