# The High Court has ruled that the City of Johannesburg must fast-track the verification and registration of informal traders. The Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa brought the case after traders were removed from illegal or undesignated areas, arguing their rights to earn a living were violated. Judge Brad Wanless ordered the city to start the process tomorrow, to be completed by the 18th of this month, while enforcing existing by-laws.
