# The Department of Health will today convene a national stakeholder engagement to address South Africa’s growing mental health and substance abuse crisis. The session, part of World Mental Health Day activities, will be held under the theme “Together for Mental Health,” at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. Deputy minister Joe Phaahla and Gauteng Health MEC, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will join experts to discuss challenges, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration to improve mental health care and service access nationwide.
