Hawks officer describes health risks from seized drugs [SOUND]

# KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Warrant Officer Karl Sander has told the Madlanga Commission that fumes from large quantities of seized Mandrax tablets can pose serious health risks. Sander explained that police exhibit bags contain micro-perforations that allow substances to breathe, potentially releasing fumes into surrounding areas. He said officers and customs officials involved in a major drug seizure became ill, with some requiring hospital treatment:
