Speaking in New York yesterday, Guterres called for a global framework to manage AI risks, backed by independent oversight. He also urged an end to fighting in the Middle East and Ukraine, and called for greater international cooperation on climate change. Guterres, who has led the UN for a decade, will step down at the end of December.
