# The co-chairperson of Parliament’s Defence Committee, Malusi Gigaba, has rejected claims by fellow committee member Nicholas Gotsell that he is shielding Defence minister Angie Motshekga over South African National Defence Force deployment funds. Gigaba labelled the claims baseless and politically motivated. He says the committee remains committed to accountability and has already agreed to a full report on the Democratic Republic of Congo deployment once concluded. He stressed that decisions are made collectively, and Motshekga has regularly accounted through meetings or written apologies when absent.
