# The Gauteng Health Department urges residents to get regular eye check-ups as glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness. Marking World Glaucoma Day, the department warns that the disease develops without symptoms, making early detection crucial. Research shows many cases go undiagnosed, especially in people over 35-years, diabetics, and those with a family history.
