# The Gauteng Department of Education has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of a former finance clerk at Laerskool Akasia in Pretoria following an investigation by the department’s Anti-Corruption Unit. She was found guilty of fraud and theft by the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court, and sentenced to three-years imprisonment, wholly suspended for five-years. The department’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona, says the court has also ordered her to repay 210-thousand-rand to the school:
