# The George Municipality in the Western Cape says efforts to manage alien vegetation in the Kat River and Upper Kat River catchment areas are ongoing. As part of these efforts, the municipality recently carried out a control burn north of Denneoord Water Works. The municipality’s spokesperson, Chantel Edwards-Klose, says these burns help reduce fuel loads, such as dead leaves, tree limbs, and other debris, thereby preventing the rapid spread of wildfires.
