# The University of Fort Hare has honoured retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree during its Spring Graduation ceremony in Alice. Madlanga served on the Constitutional Court until his retirement in July 2025. He now chairs the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into alleged criminal justice system infiltration by criminal syndicates. The university recognised his contribution to constitutionalism, human rights and the law. Madlanga also previously taught at Fort Hare and continues contributing to legal education.
