Former North West premier Bushy Maape Dies at 68

# Former North West Premier and anti-apartheid activist Bushy Maape has died at the age of 68. His family confirmed that Maape passed away peacefully yesterday in Johannesburg, after a short illness. Maape, served as the seventh premier of the North West from 2021 to 2024. During his tenure, he travelled abroad for medical treatment following doctors’ advice which brought strong opposition from other political parties who criticised the trips. Details of his memorial and funeral are yet to be announced.
