# The Freedom Front Plus says it could not support the Drakenstein Local Municipality’s budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, as the funds are simply not being directed towards addressing residents’ most pressing needs. The total budget for the Western Cape municipality is 4.5-billion-rand, of which 3.9-billion-rand is earmarked for operating expenditure and 569-million-rand for capital projects. The FF Plus says critical services are neglected as money is squandered on misguided priorities. It adds that residents deserve transparent governance, proper infrastructure maintenance and a safe, clean living environment.
