# An emergency vote on Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest has been called off following developments in the Middle East. The meeting was scheduled after several countries said they would no longer take part in Eurovision if Israel participated. The European Broadcasting Union said its executive board agreed to an in-person discussion among members and the matter has now been added to the agenda of its winter general assembly. Slovenia, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland and Iceland earlier all issued statements saying they would consider boycotting the contest if Israel took part.
