# Eskom says it plans to return a total of two-thousand-550-megawatts of generation capacity to service ahead of the evening peak on Monday, to further stabilise the grid before a cold week. The South African Weather Service earlier announced that severe and extreme winter weather will affect South Africa this weekend going into next week. Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena says the utility expects an increase in energy demand due to the inclement weather conditions:
